Question:
I have a 2010 Subaru Outback Premium Edition that came with the factory rails and aero crossbars. Im hoping to be able to use the Thule Hullavator Pro and am wondering what parts are needed. Specifically, which foot pack is needed.

Expert Reply:
The Subaru factory-installed roof rack on your 2010 Outback Wagon cannot be used with the Thule Hullavator load-assisted kayak carrier # TH898. The Hullavator needs a roof rack whose crossbars extend out past the rack feet by no less than 4-inches. This is shown in the linked diagram. Without this extra bar space the carrier could contact the side of the car.
If your Outback has raised front-to-back roof rails you can install their Square Bar Rack, parts # TH712200 and # TH710401, and then install the Hullavator.
