no power at 12v post on truck 7 way plug is the 12v post fused

A missing or damaged fuse is the most likely cause for the inactive 12V pin on your Sierra's factory 7-Way connector. I took a look at the online owner's manual for your 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 and found that there should be a 12V trailer battery fuse located in the number 2 position inside the engine compartment fuse block, which is found on the driver's side of the engine compartment. Check to make sure this fuse is present and in good condition, replacing if needed.
