Hi. I have a 2011 Toyota RAV4 with the spare tire on the back and wondering what your best recommendations would be for rear tow ball attached bike carrier? Maximum three bikes. Thanks.

For a solid hitch mounted bike carrier, I recommend the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Platform Rack, Item # KU24FR. To see if it will clear the rear spare tire of your 2011 Toyota RAV4, you will need to take some measurements. On the Transfer there is 6 inches between the hitch pin hole and the closest part of the rack.

For some other 3 bike options that have more clearance for your spare tire, I recommend looking at the RockyMounts SplitRail, Item # RKY11404-3, and the MonoRail, Item # RKY10004-10005. From the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack the SplitRail measures 6-1/2 inches and the MonoRail is 6-1/4 inches.

With all these options, your measurements will be the determining factor on what will work for you. I have attached an article to help you out.

If you need a hitch receiver for your RAV4, I recommend the etrailer Class III Receiver Hitch, Item # e98864. I also recommend the Etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit, Item # 989900, which includes: 2 ball mounts, 2 hitch balls (1-7/8 inch and 2 inch), 2 pins and clips, and one storage bag.
