Tonneau Cover Recommendation for 2018 Ford F-350 Short Bed with Fifth Wheel Hitch

Updated 04/18/2018 | Published 04/17/2018

Question:

My question is similar to Mike L.s from above. Im looking to put this on my truck to cover a 5th wheel hitch when Im not towing, but want to flip it up to the front of the bed laying down on the last panel like in your second picture of the red demo truck, not standing up and blocking the back window when I am towing. What is the measurement from the cab edge of the cover to the trailing edge when it is folded up as I described above? Im trying to pair the cover with a Demco DM8550024 and am deciding between this cover and retractable like RT40386. Id prefer the MX4 as it doesnt take up any of my already limited bed volume.

The BAKFlip MX4 part # BAK48330 that you referenced has 4 equal width sections that cover the truck bed. Since your truck bed is 6-3/4 feet long each section will be 20-1/4 inches wide.

The other thing you need to consider is the heigth above the bed rails this cover adds when folded up and the potential for clearance issues between it and the overhang of the fifth wheel trailer. You'd need 6 inches between the cover and the trailer overhang at least.

The RetraxPro part # RT80386 would be your all around best solution if you want a powered retraction or the # RT60383 if you want the non-powered option.
