Can a Lunette Ring Coupler be Installed on a Boat Trailer for a Pintle Hook Style Trailer Hitch
Question:
Is a pintle hook good for towing a 8000# boat.I tow with a 1997 F-350 7.3 diesel. I would like to convert my trailer to a lunette ring brake actuator if I could.

Pintle hitches and lunette rings are usually found in agricultural applications and I cannot say that I have ever seen one used with a boat trailer. That is not to say that it could not work, it is just uncommon. A more traditional ball style coupler would be more ideal for road travel and it seems like it would also be easier to couple, uncouple. There would be a tighter fit with a ball hitch and a pintle set up might allow for more horizontal and vertical shock.
We have a lot of brake actuating couplers available. I have incldued a link to them for you to view. There are bolt on and weld on applications, as well as drum and disc brake applications of various capacities.
A similar model to the one you have referenced is the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator, # T4750800. It has the same 12,500 pound capacity and is for disc brake applications. It takes a 2-5/16 inch ball. I have included a link to the installation details for you to view.
If you decide to go with a lunette ring coupler, I recommend # T4810000, since it comes with a ring.
