2011 Chevrolet Avalanche Transmission Cooler Recommendation

Updated 04/17/2018 | Published 04/16/2018

Question:

I ordered the FLX4126 Transmission Cooler for my 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche 2WD. This vehicle has the OEM Towing Package with a small OEM cooler in front of the A/C Condenser. There is not enough room to keep the OEM Cooler and mount the FLX4126 unless I mount the FLX4126 directly in front of the OEM Cooler. Do you recommend that I remove the OEM Cooler to install the FLX4126, mount the FLX4126 in front of the OEM Cooler, mount the FLX4126 between the radiator and A/C Condenser, or order a smaller transmission cooler?

Expert Reply:

The Flex-a-lite Translife Transmission Cooler # FLX4126 that you ordered is pretty large at 20" wide x 10" tall x 3/4" deep. Your best option is going to be to go with a smaller cooler that is a more efficient style like the stacked plate Derale part # D13403 which measures 13" Wide x 7-5/16" tall x 2" deep so that you can fit both your factory and aftermarket cooler installed at same time.
