Question:
looking to put a towing kit on my ford fusion 09 4cyl to haul a boat. I suspect boat and trailer will be about 1500-1600 pounds. Would you recommend a Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" with a Draw-Tite Drawbar for 1-1/4inch Hitches - 4inch Rise - 10inch Long - 2,000 lbs? i feel the riser would help even out trailer and keep weight off the tounge. What are your recommendations? Do you think my front wheel drive fusion would be able to haul a 1500lb up a 30-degree incline like that? thanks in advance for any advice.

We have the Curt trailer hitch # C11329 for the 2009 Ford Fusion that has a towing capacity of 2,000 lbs. This capacity though is independent of the capacity of your vehicle. I tried looking up the capacity for it online and most places say it wasn't listed or it's not rated for any towing. So I really wouldn't feel comfortable telling you that your vehicle could tow a 1,500 lb trailer. Especially on the hills you describe. If you really wanted to do it though I would recommend checking with a Ford dealer.
For trailer wiring we do have the Tekonsha kit part # 118422 which is a custom fit and would work well. With Class I hitches like the Draw Tite you have to use the ball mount that the hitch manufacturer recommends. In your case it's the # 3592. If you raise the nose of the trailer, you will have a sway problem.
