Why Does Curt Trailer Hitch for 2016 Nissan Titan XD Have More Capacity than Vehicle

Question:
The Curt C15306 class V receiver for my 2016 Nissan Titan XD. It claims to handle much higher towing load and more than twice the tongue weight. Yet the manufacturer says “never exceed your vehicles specifications”. Isn’t this a contradiction?

Trailer hitches are rated independently from the vehicles they are designed for, but that capacity is designed to work with what the vehicle has as it's capacity. So by itself the Curt hitch # C15306 has the capacity of 16,000 lbs.
But if your truck has a capacity of only 8,000 lbs your total capacity is that as you are always limited by the lowest rated component in your setup. So Curt basically made a hitch that is way overkill for your truck. But it will still work well.
