Will Derale Transmission Cooler Decrease Air Flow To Radiator on 2006 Ford Escape V6

Question:
So my tranny just died on my 06 ford escape v6 at 102k miles. After doing some digging i found out that after 08 all ford escapes came with an independent cooler for the transmission because of them failing early due to them over heating. So because of this i am thinking it would be best to get a transmission cooler with a built in fan but my concern is that it will negatively affect the regular radiators ability to cool to the point were it could cause problems. Will it decrease the airflow that much when its not running? or should i not be concerned about that.

Air will still pass through the transmission cooler and reach the radiator, but the temperature effect on the cooling system will be minimal if at all. Since the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit, # D15950, has a built-in fan, it does not have to be mounted in front of the radiator. The fan will provide sufficient airflow to cool the transmission fluid anywhere the cooler is located.
As you may know, the most efficient place to mount the transmission cooler is behind the front grille, in front of the radiator. Since you plan to mount your cooler here, I would recommend just going with a traditional cooler like the Derale Transmission Cooler, part # D13502. You will need to measure to make sure you have room to mount this cooler as it measures 11 inches wide, 7-1/4 inches tall, and 7/8 inches thick.
I have linked an FAQ on transmission coolers. I have also linked a video installation of a transmission cooler on a different vehicle to use as reference.
