The bumper of your 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500HD has a twist-in style port for a 7-way so for a replacement 7-way that is designed to fit that we have the Pollak # PK11916 which will fit and work well.

For a replacement 7-way harness we have the part # HM40985 that you can wire in place of the cut off harness your truck has. Wiring configuration: Green: right turn signal Yellow: left turn signal White: ground Brown: tail lights and side marker lights Blue: electric brake Red: auxiliary power Purple: backup/reverse lights You might have to test the wires of your truck that were cut off to determine their function with a circuit tester like part # 3808 and then wire by function using the above diagram.
