Weight Capacity of the Erickson Big Bed Junior Load Extender # EM07605

Question:
Hi, there. I need to carry 4 pieces of 3x3” steel tube, each is about 100” tall about 140 pounds total. I have a CRV 2017 with factory rails and crossbars installed. I’m wondering what would be the best way to load the roof with this load extender, should I lay all 4 pieces flat at the center of the car, place them in pairs closer to the driver and passenger doors, or try to distribute each evenly across the roofs width?. Ill be driving in the highway for a couple hours. Also and out of curiosity, if using this extender or a similar one, would I be able to carry thing over the weight capacity a roof rack by itself? Not that I want to double or triple the load weight, but maybe 30 more, since the load extender attaches directly to the hitch receiver, which has a higher weight capacity, and the weight is distributed in between 3 places, instead of 2 2 crossbars at the cars roof, and 1 from the extender. Thanks in advance.

If the steel tubes weigh 140 lbs all together then I would at least try to seperate them on the driver and passenger sides of the roof rack on your 2017 Honda CR-V. The best option for weight displacement would be to put them evenly across the width of your roof rack but that can be a little difficult.
Make sure that the load is 140 total and not each. Should the steel tubes weigh 140 lbs each then you will not be able to carry them on the roof rack of your CR-V as that is 560 lbs. The Erickson Big Bed Junior Load Extender # EM07605 will ultimately handle a little of that weight, but since it can be used for many different applications, it is best to stay within the weight capacity of the roof rack on your CR-V. The Extend-A-Truck has a weight capacity of 350 lbs.
I have attached a review video for you to check out.
