Will Curt Trailer Hitch C13145 Fit a 1998 Dodge Dakota Short Bed

Question:

Is this trailer hitch compatible with my 1998 Dodge Dakota 6.5 foot short bed or only fit on 8 foot long bed? Thanks

Bed length does not matter in this case. Curt trailer hitch # C13145 will fit your 1998 Dodge Dakota with 6-1/2 foot bed.

If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.

For trailer wiring you can use harness # 118329. But if the trailer has more than standard lighting (which is one tail light per side) then you would need to use a powered hardwire harness instead. As of August 2023, we do not have a powered harness available for your Dakota.
