Can Subaru OEM Cargo Box 05203 from Thule be Upgraded to Quick Grip Mounting Hardware

Hi— Question #1: Im wondering if its possible to replace the u-bolt grip on a 2011 Subaru OEM Thule rooftop cargo carrier with the newer Quick Grip assemblies. The Subaru part # is 05203. Question #2: Considering a new car, can I use this box on a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek outfitted with Subaru Aero cross bars? Thanks for any help,

I spoke with my contact at Thule regarding your Subaru OEM cargo box 05203. He stated that this is their Evolution 1600 model cargo box and that the mounting hardware cannot be upgraded to the Quick Grip Assemblies # TH05738 without modification to the box itself. Modifying the cargo box can affect its structural integrity and lifespan, so I do not recommend doing this.

I was also able to confirm that your cargo box will mount to aero-style crossbars that are up to 3-1/4 inches wide. As long as the aero bars on the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek fall below this dimension, you will be able to transfer the cargo box to your new vehicle without issue.
