The Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller part # C24VV coupled with the Curt Custom Wiring Adapter part # C51458 will have everything you need to install a brake controller on your 2016 Ram 1500. You will not need to take the vehicle to the dealer to install this as the process is very simple and should not take you more than 30 minutes or so. The hardest part of the whole process is finding the brake controller plug-in port on the vehicle. If you take a look at the attached installation video on a similar controller, you can see that the plug-in port on your Ram is located under the driver side dash panel about where your right knee will be located while seated as shown at the 3:30 second mark.
