Question:

I have an Audi A4 Allroad 2018 and want to buy crossbars for my factory rails. I prefer Thule as general brand and would plan on getting a car top cargo holder that can accommodate a bike next to it, also on a Thule. I saw that on the compatibility page, some of the brands, like Yakima, say you dont have to trim the rubber inside the slots. With Thule it isnt clear to me - I would prefer to not have to trim anything. Is there a setup you would recommend? I know which bike carrier I would get, but I want the least hassle possible and would prefer to have more horizontal real estate than the edge Thule crossbars. Also, which cargo carrier is best to have next to a bike on the top of my relatively small car?

For the factory raised side rails on your 2018 Audi A4 Allroad, I recommend the Thule WingBar Roof Rack that consists of # TH711420 for the two 53 inch WingBar Load Bars and # TH710401 for the Foot Pack. The feet on this system will clamp right onto the side rails on your vehicle. These particular bars feature dual rubber "QuickAccess" strips that do not require any trimming.

Then, when selecting a roof box that will sit alongside a bike rack, I recommend going with a narrow option like the Thule Pulse # TH613, which measures just 25-1/2 inches wide. This should allow you to still have enough space for a bike carrier on the roof of your Audi. This particular box will provide 11 cubic feet of carrying capacity and features an integrated lock that will help protect your cargo.
