Question:
what is the recommended usable life for 205 75 R15 trailer tires?
asked by: Larry H
Expert Reply:
It really depends on how well the tire is kept, how often the trailer is used, if the tires have protection from the elements, and if they are used properly. If your 205/75R15 tires, like part # TR20515D, is 6-7 years old then we do recommend changing them out because the material will be worn enough from either sitting or being used.
To make sure that you are getting the max life out of your tires you want to make sure that you are keeping the tires inflated to the manufacturers recommended psi, you are not overloading them, you don't go over their speed rating, curbs and damaging things on the road are avoided, and that you protect them while in storage.
When putting your trailer up for the season it is best to jack your trailer up so your tires are off the ground and release some of the air. Adding some covers like the Adco Ultra Tyre Gard RV Wheel Covers # 290-3953, which fit 205/75R15 tires, help to keep the elements and harmful UV rays from dry rotting your tires.
These are recommended for any size tires, not just the 205/75R15 size.
