Question:
I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado that Im setting up to be towed behind a semi-truck. what hitch, mounting kit and wiring do you recommend. I need a 3inch lunette on the hitch. I want to use the factory lights on the truck and I want to be able to plug a semi-truck 7 way plug into the front on the towed truck to power the lights.

For a tow bar we have the Roadmaster Stowmaster part # RM-583 which has a 6k capacity and uses a 3 inch Lunette ring. So then for a base plate kit you'd want the part # 3115-1 for if you have a 1500HD, 2500HD, or 3500HD.
If you have a 1500LD Z71 you'd want the part # 199-5 or part # 199-10 for if you have a 1500LD that's not a Z71.
For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the tow vehicle.
The 7-Way on a semi-truck is not the same as an RV style 7-Way and there isn't an adapter. What I recommend, instead of replacing the connector on the trailer, is to add the correct mating 7-Way on the truck.
To do that you can hardwire in a 7-Way, # HM47210. For this 7-Way the white wire is ground, yellow is left turn signal and brake lights, green is right turn signal and brake lights, brown is the tail light wire, red is auxiliary power, blue is output to electric brakes, and purple is reverse lights.
If the turn signals and brake lights are not combined on the same circuits then instead of HM47210 you will need a version that has a converter to combine the turn signals and brake lights # 22551.
