Question:
I see another person asked about replacing an existing transmission cooler and someone recommended adding part # D13504. Two questions. 1 Your site does not give a level of difficulty. Would this be medium? I have some skill but i never touched a cooling system or transmission before. 2 Would it be recommended for the flow to go into existing cooler then into D13504? Thanks,

Transmission coolers are fairly simple to install requiring just a bit of mechanical aptitude and some basic tools. If I had to rate the process on a scale from 1 to 10 with 1 being easy and 10 being hard, I would have to say about a 5. I have attached an install video for you. The process to install the cooler will not be the same as the attached video for your truck but very similar as the process will only differ slightly.
As long as you have 11" wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep of space to mount the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13504 in front of the radiator/condenser behind the grille on your 2012 Ford F-150 then this cooler will work well for you. You will also need to use the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury part # D13025. Aside from the radiator adapters this kit comes with everything else you will need for installation.
I recommend installing the new cooler after your existing auxiliary/secondary transmission cooler. In order to do this you will want to remove the cold line from your transmission cooler and attach that to the new transmission cooler. The cold line from the new cooler can then be routed back to the transmission. You will not want to use this cooler to replace your existing cooler. I have attached our transmission cooler help article for you as well.
