What material is all of the lock assembly made from? I have a plastic challenger one that was on my rv trailer and it was busted and broken.

The housing for Lippert Components Standard Baggage Door Latch Kit # LC317649 is plastic but the guts inside are metal. The housing is tough though. I thought it might be metal until I tried a magnet on it.
