Expert Reply:
The Erickson Over-The-Cab Ladder Rack, part # EM07707 is a good fit for a 146 inch canoe. You will need to verify any overhang laws or ordinances in your state to ensure that you're in compliance. Many of these are just a requirement to have a flag added to the end of the load.
You'll also want to get a few cam straps to secure the canoe to the rack, and I recommend the Thule Multipurpose Locking Straps, part # TH832. These locking straps add an additional level of security and are long enough to secure the canoe to the rack.
You may also like a crossbar pad to help protect your canoe. I recommend Rhino-Rack Crossbar Pad, part # RRRWP05 to add a little padding underneath the canoe so that bounces don't damage its hull or frame.
