The Camco RV Baggage Door Catches # CAM44173 are made with a durable ABS plastic that will do a great job against the elements. As far as lifespan goes it really just depends on where you are traveling and where you stay. Harsher weather conditions will naturally cause all equipment to wear quicker.
Although there is no known lifespan, they do come with a 1-year limited warranty which should say something towards how well they are made.
