Will Ultra-Fab Dirt Bike Carrier Allow 2017 Ram ProMaster 3500 Rear Doors to Open When Installed?

Question:
Hi! I’m interested in the UF48-979033. I want to attach it into the standard hitch of a 2017 RAM ProMaster 3500 van. I’m going to use it to carry a Yamaha Zuma 50cc scooter. Before purchasing, I want to make sure I will be able to open the van doors without having to remove the hitch. I realize I will have to unload the scooter to open the van doors, but I don’t want to have to detach the UF48-979033 too.

I reached out to the manufacturer and was told that the reinforcement brace on the Ultra-Fab Dirt Bike Carrier # UF48-979033 sticks up from the receiver tube a total of 4-1/2 inches. So you would need to have slightly more than 4-1/2 inches of clearance from the top of the hitch receiver on your 2017 RAM ProMaster 3500 to the bottom of the van's doors in order for you to be able to open the doors with the carrier still attached.
