is there a hook up outside the truck for the integrated brake system for my 2012 dodge ram 1500? the warning tells me it is disconnected.

The warning of the integrated brake controller system on your 2012 Ram 1500 telling you it is disconnected is telling you that there is not a draw on the brake controller output pin on your 7-way. If you put an incandescent circuit tester like # PTW2993 on the 5 o'clock pin position, you should have the connection register. If you do not, then there is likely a short on that brake controller output wire. I recommend tracing that wire to find the short and replace the wire as needed with # 10-1-1.

If there is not a trailer connected, then it is registering correctly. If that is not the norm, then you may need to clean your connection at the 7-way as there may be a draw on another function that makes a trailer appear to be present.
