The owners manual of a vehicle is the best source for tire chain fit instructions for your 2016 Mazda CX-5. I was able to pull up the owners manual of your vehicle and found that they offer general tips for using tire chains like be sure not to exceed 30 mph and to drive carefully, but they do not recommend specific axles to use the chains on.
So ideally you run them on all 4 tires as that will give you the best traction all around.
