Question:

I have an 89 Isuzu Trooper. The only type of roof rack that will work with mine is one that can be mounted using brackets mounted to the drip rails. I may have an option for you, however your 1989 Isuzu Trooper does not have the type of factory raised side rails that are needed to mount a cargo basket like the Surco Safari Rack # SPS5084-1101 that you referenced.

We do not currently have a roof rack available that is confirmed to fit your Trooper, however we do have a system that might work. I recommend taking a look at the Inno Feet for Square Crossbars # INSD. These feet are designed to mount to a vehicle's rain gutters like what is shown below. If you have these type of gutters on your roof, then this may be a great option. You can then use the feet to install square crossbars of your desired length. I have attached a link that will take you to our available selection of Inno square crossbars for you to look through.

With a roof rack installed, you can then mount a standard roof cargo basket like the excellent Rhino-Rack # RMCB02.

Otherwise, if you are simply looking to store some cargo on the roof of your vehicle, you can also look into a roof bag like the Rightline Gear Sport # RL100S30. This particular cargo bag offers 18 cubic feet of storage space and can actually be mounted to a naked roof (without side rails or crossbars) using the included straps to run through the vehicle's interior. I lastly recommend just checking the owner's manual for your Isuzu Trooper for roof's weight capacity to ensure safety when loading your cargo.
