Leaf Spring Recommendation to Replace 27 inch Long Spring on Camper with 1,500 lb Trailer Weight

Published 12/05/2017

Question:

I need to replace the leaf springs on a 1959 camper trailer that I am restoring. The current spring is 27inch former to eye and has 8 leafs. The trailer only weighs approx. 1500#s. Your 27inch spring only has 4 leafs # SP210275, Is this the correct replacement?

Length-wise the leaf spring part # SP-210275 that you referenced is about right at 27 inches. Since your trailer only weighs 1,500 lbs though this is going to give you a somewhat rough ride quality.

A better option would be # e77SR most likely as it has a 2,000 lb axle weight rating and is 26 inches long. I know that's an inch shorter than what you listed, but leaf springs stretch out over time as they wear out so your 27 inch springs were most likely a bit shorter when new like this spring.
