In order to install and use the Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier and Lift Assist # TH898 on your 2011 Jeep Patriot, you will need to first install a roof rack system.

If your Jeep Patriot has the factory raised side rails on the roof that run front to back, I recommend the Thule SquareBar Roof Rack that consists of # TH712200 for the two 47 inch SquareBar Crossbars and # TH710401 for the Foot Pack. This will give you a sturdy roof rack with a weight capacity of 165 pounds.

With the roof rack in place, you can then install and use the excellent Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier # TH898. I did confirm with Thule that this carrier is compatible with the above crossbars on your Jeep Patriot. The built-in lift assist on this kayak carrier will take the strain out of loading a kayak onto the Jeep's roof. It can secure 1 kayak of up to 36 inches wide and 75 pounds.
