Hi folks: Is the control key for the Yakima Skybox 18 the same as that of the roof rack lock cores ? Thanks.

Yes, the Yakima Control Key # Y8007835 will work on any of their Same Key System (SKS) lock cores no matter in which type of accessory it is installed, cargo box, roof rack or other carrier. All such Yakima items with the SKS system can have an old unlocked core removed and a new one like # Y8771-A145 installed using this one part.
We also have handy complete lock/key sets too, such as # Y07204, which is a set of 4 matching cores plus two standard keys and one control key. This kit enables you to replace four separate lock cores on any SKS product. Larger-quantity kits are available too, such as 8-piece kit # Y07208.
