Recommended Bolt-On Coupler for R-Pod Camper
Published 11/15/2017 >
Question:
Hello, I need to replace the hitch coupler on my R-Pod 182G camper. The original hitch coupler is rated at 5,000 lbs and welded onto A-Frame. Will item DM14793-81 be a good replacement since I do not have access to welder? I see its rated at 10,000 lbs which is better but is it ok to bolt onto camper frame versus welding onto camper frame? Any information you could provide would be helpful. Thank you,

The Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler # DM14793-81 referenced in your question should work just fine as a replacement on your R-Pod Camper. As you mentioned, the coupler has a bolt-on installation and a weight capacity of 10,000 pounds. It is compatible with a 2 inch hitch ball and also features a cutout for a 2-1/4 inch round jack.
There should be no issue with replacing the weld-on unit with this bolt-on coupler, but to be sure you might also check with the camper manufacturer just to make sure there are no restrictions or guidelines that might affect the warranty.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this product that you can also check out.
