Recommendation for Increasing Ground Clearance with Hitch Mounted Bike Rack on Land Rover

Updated 10/28/2017 | Published 10/27/2017

Question:

I have a Land Rover lr3. The hitch receiver is very low. When I have my northshore bike rack the bike tires will hit ground going over ruts or ditches and will fall off. So I need to buy a riser. The max weight would be 275-300lbs. Whats the highest tongue weight receiver riser you have?

To provide you with additional ground clearance when using your bike rack on your Land Rover LR3, I recommend taking a look at the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2 Inch Receiver # D210. As long as you have a 2 inch hitch receiver on your vehicle, this adapter will work nicely to provide you with a 2 inch hitch receiver with a bit of a rise. There is a distance of right at 3-9/16 inches from the bottom of the top receiver to top of the primary shank on the adapter. Just note that when using just the receiver portion (and not also towing a trailer with the ball mount) of this adapter the weight capacity of your trailer hitch will be reduced by 50 percent.

I have attached a short video demonstration on this product that you can also check out.
