Direction of the Swing of the Yakima EXO Swing Away Enclosed Cargo Carrier

Question:

Evening. Can this cargo box swing out to the left drivers side? Reason is the ladder to the roof of my motorhome is on the right and i dont want to be climbing up or around the cargo box.

Unfortunately, the Yakima EXO Swing Away Enclosed Cargo Carrier - 2" Hitches - 10 cu ft - 100 lbs # Y62VR carrier only assembles to swing away to the right of the vehicle, not the left of the vehicle. This is because its design is made to swing away from traffic if you are pulled over on the side of the road.

I have a possible solution for you. The Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender part # PVD20B is intended to be used with Kuat bike racks but it can be used with bike racks, cargo carriers, or any other 2" hitch mounted accessory. It swings to the driver's side. You could use this hitch extender with a cargo carrier of your choice. However, the use of an adapter does reduce hitch capacity by 50%. I attached a video for you that shows the passenger-side version of this Swing Away Hitch. The # PVD20B does swing to the driver's side.
