Keying a Yakima SuperLatch Replacement Kit for a Skybox Cargo Carrier

Updated 10/26/2017 | Published 10/25/2017

Question:

Can I choose what what lock core key number that would come with these replacement handles. I have other Yakima devices and they all use the same key. Trying to avoid having to buy the handles and new cores as well.

I have a solution for you, but unfortunately the SuperLatch kit, part # Y8880348 isn't able to have the SKS Lock specified when ordered, so you'll need to buy the cores to match your existing SKS Key individually.

To do this, you'll search the site for "Y8771-XXXX" where XXXX is the code that is printed on your existing SKS Lock Cores and Key. These come as single units, so you'll need two to re-core your new SuperLatch kit. For instance, if your lock and key has the code "A135," you'll search for part # Y8771-A135 to find the correct core, and part # Y8772-A135 for an additional key for that code.

If you don't have one from your SKS kit when you keyed-alike the rest of your Yakima accessories, you'll need to buy a control key as part # Y8007835 to remove and replace the locks.
