Question:
I inherited an older Yakima ski rack with my car. Id like to lock it but there is no key. It is unlocked. So if I order a core key from you I will be able to pop out the core and get new keys from you? Does this work for all models. It is a very basic model I see for sale all over e-bay for about $60 with keys so I dont want to spend to much. It works fine unlocked. But better if locked.

Since your lock is in the unlocked position you can remove the core and replace it with a new one. Here are the steps for replacing a Yakima lock core:
When using the change key part # Y8007835 to remove and replace a lock cylinder what you have to do is first have the lock in the unlocked position. Next you will insert the change key into the core. With the key in the core you will then be able to slide the core out as one piece. To reinstall the core (or a new one), you have to insert the core with the change key inserted in it and then once in place remove the key. It will then be secured to the rack/accessory.
You can use part # Y8771-A154 for a replacement core. This lock core can be used for any SKS system for Yakima products and will work with key # Y8772-A154.
