How Would a Derale Transmission Cooler # D13504 Install onto a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500

Updated 05/27/2011 | Published 05/26/2011

Question:

Will the D13504 mount to existing holes and location on a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 5.3L engine? If so, where is the optimum place on this model to mount the cooler? Thank you.

The optimum mounting location for a Derale Transmission Coolers, part # D13504, on your 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 5.3 liter engine would be in front of your radiator and AC condenser as you would get the most airflow to the cooler there. I attached an FAQ article on transmission coolers for you that you should find informative also.

When you mount the # D13504 you will use the included Insta-dapt radiator adapters that will get passed through the fins of the # D13504 and then will pass through the fins of the radiator and AC condenser and then finally you use the other end of the Insta-dapt to secure it in place.

I attached a picture for you to check out that shows how it goes together. I also attached an installation video of a transmission cooler on a vehicle for you to check out.

You may also be interested in a Derale Radiator Adapter Fitting for GM, part # D13018, to make installation easier. This will allow you to not have to cut or flare metal lines to complete the installation.
