Recommended Tire Storage Covers and Protective Steps to Take for Outdoor Winter Trailer Storage
Updated 10/18/2017 | Published 10/17/2017 >
Question:
The number I got off my Featherlite 2- horse bumper pull trailer tires are ST20575R15 Freestar Radial F-108 tubeless 1. Can you tell me what size they are as I am wanting to purchase tire cover bags for them to help prevent rain/sun rot? 2. Also, do you have any recommendations as to what kind of wheel bags to get, and if there is anything else I can use on the tires to prevent rain/dry rot? 3. I am parking the trailer over the winter in one place. Usually I use the trailer over the winter, but wont be this year. Should I put a board or a mat under the tires as well? thank you!

You are smart to add some tire protection to your Featherlite trailer for winter storage. Tire covers are a whole lot less costly than new tires! Covers will block almost all of the potential damage from UV radiation and will make springtime prep a little easier too.
Your tire size ST205/75-15 has an overall diameter of right around 27-inches. For the best fit I suggest covers that fit tires from 27- to 29-inches. All such tire covers in this size range are shown on the linked page.
For a tandem-axle trailer I like the Adco Tyre Gard covers # 290-3923 in Polar white. These covers are sold individually so you will need to order two to cover a total of four tires. They feature heavy-duty flannel-backed vinyl construction, overlapping seams, double-needle stitching, and reinforced grommets.
It will also benefit your tires if you have some way to reduce the load on them during storage. If you have jack stands or other means to support some of the trailer's weight (to reduce the weight that is actually on the tires) this will help too. It is also a good idea to do as you say, to place a clean board under each tire to prevent them sinking into the ground.
For reference I also linked our main page for RV covers.
