Question:
Hi. I have a 2005 Subaru Outback and Im trying to mount the old style yakima bike trays with a fork mount. The car has the aero cross bars. Can I use the mighty mounts or will I have to figure something else out? I have the Q towers but Id rather use the existing rack if possible. Thanks.

Many of the Yakima fork mount bike carriers currently available, such as the Yakima ForkLift Roof Mounted Bike Carrier # Y02098 that you were looking at, do not actually require an adapter to work with aero-style crossbars. This carrier will fit factory crossbars that are up to 3-7/8 inches wide and 1-7/8 inches tall. You can take a couple quick measurements of the aero crossbars on your Outback Wagon to ensure this will fit.
This is a really nice bike carrier that will secure your bike with its easy-to-adjust sliding wheel tray and a stainless steel skewer with integrated adjustment knob.
I have attached a video demonstration on this bike carrier that you can also check out.
