Question:
I have an older trailer pre 1987 and I need Brake Shoes for it . When measuring the drum I get 12inch and when measuring the shoe I get 2 1/4inch wide . And looking at the photos of your shoes my top locating hole looks low on the shoe like a 12 1/2x 2 1/2inch . How can I determine which shoe I need ?

Picking out brake shoes for a trailer brake assembly can be somewhat difficult since you have to match the exact shoes for your assemblies. A much easier and typically less expensive option is to just replace the assemblies all together since the price is typically the same, it's easier to pick out, and the install is much easier.
For a pair of 12 inch brake assemblies thats the same price as the shoes you mentioned you'd want the part # AKEBRK-6 which will fit your trailer as long as the assemblies are held on with 5 bolts.
