Question:
I have a 2017 2500hd 4x4 Chevy Truck extended cab 6.5 foot standard bed. Im pulling a Keystone Cougar Lite 28SGS Rated at 8000 pounds dry. I have an Anderson ultimate hitch. The Fifth wheel has a lippert 1621 pin box rated at 15,500 lbs. My issue is the hitch hits the bed rails during sharp turns. I cannot raise the anderson ball to the next adjustment hole. The trailer is already running a little high in front. Anderson recommends turning the pin adapter around to the front of the pin box but that will move the pin box forward 8. That will give me other clearance issues. Do you have any ideas of products that may help. Possibly air ride hitch or something? Thanks

Expert Reply:
In cases like yours where your hitched 5th wheel is riding nose-high and you still need more pin box clearance at the bed rails a low-cost solution that works well for many is an axle over-under kit. These are sometimes referred to as axle flip kits, although that name is not quite accurate.
Kits # K71-384-00 and # K71-385-00 fit 2-3/8-inch and 3-inch diameter axles, respectively, and increase the trailer's height. The height gain in inches will be the total of the axle's diameter plus the height of the leaf spring stack. Please refer to the linked video.
