Question:
Ratcheting strap tie downs for an auto tow dolly? I have a tow dolly that was originally equipped with cable ties to tie the wheels to the dolly, and I dont like those because I believe that they do damage to the tires, so I want to replace the cables with straps thinking that they are a lot easier on the tires. I have so far been unable to find replacement ratcheting strap tie downs that I can weld to the trailer frame in order to use straps rather than those cables. Everyone has them on their tow dollies, but no one seems to stick them so that I can cut the old ones off and replace them with ratcheting strap tie downs. The ones that I am familiar with use a steel bar in a hole on the axle of the tie down to tighten them and there are ratcheting cogs that fall into the notches on the axle to retain them. Can you help?

We do offer ratcheting tie down kits such as the Bulldog # BDW20230 but these do not bolt-down; they have hooks on each end of the four included no-stretch, high-strength polyester straps. The straps have built-in adjustable loops for wrapping axles. We also offer them individually as part # BDW20229. These are usually used with tie-down anchors like # RR5K.
Your dolly may allow use of these axle straps to avoid the concern about tire damage. It would be a good idea to check with the dolly manufacturer to confirm they have no concerns about using their dolly with straps instead of the OEM cables.
