Will the DeeZee Red Label 5th Wheel Toolbox Part # DZ8560WB Fit a 2015 Ram 3500

Published 09/05/2017

Question:

I have a 2015 Ram 3500 long bed and would like to get the DeeZee fifthwheel toolbox DZ8560WB. I want to know if the rails required to mount these tonneau covers EX62435 and TX748901 to the bedrails will prevent me from being able to open the lid of the toolbox?

I spoke to my contact at DeeZee and they informed me that the DeeZee Red Label 5th Wheel Toolbox part # DZ8560WB will work for your 2015 Ram 3500. As the top of the toolbox sits about 2" down from the top of the bed rails, most tonneau covers will work. However, in order to gain access to the toolbox I recommend using the TruXedo Deuce 2 Soft Tonneau Cover part # TX748901 since this is the only tonneau cover we have confirmed to fit your vehicle that will allow you to roll/fold the cover up from the cab first.

I have attached a review video of the toolbox and tonneau cover for you.

According to Car & Driver, the distance from the inside edge of each bed rail on your 2015 Ram 3500 with the 8' bed is 66.2". The DeeZee Red Label 5th Wheel Toolbox part # DZ8560WB is 60" wide therefore the mounting rails for the TruXedo Deuce 2 Soft Tonneau Cover part # TX748901 and the Extang EnCore Hard Tonneau Cover part # EX62435 cannot have a combined width greater than 6-1/5" to allow for the toolbox to open while the tonneau cover is installed. I called my contact at Extang and they informed me that the mounting rails installed on the inside edge of the truck bed are 2-1/2" wide. The mounting rails for the TruXedo tonneau cover are 3" wide. Therefore, yes both bed covers will allow you to open the lid of your toolbox while installed. The Extang cover will have about 3/5" of clearance on either side of the toolbox between the tonneau covers mounting rails and the toolbox lid whereas the Truxedo will only have about 1/10". I recommend using the Extang cover as this will allow for more clearance between the mounting rails and toolbox lid.
