Battery in 2009 Honda CR-V Goes Dead When Flat Towed

If you are flat-towing your 2009 Honda CR-V behind a motorhome and the car's battery is going dead, even after you pull the fuse for the radio, then either the battery is shot, it needs a full charge from a shore power charger like the CTEK # CTEK56353 before you head out, or something else is draining the battery.

Honda does indicate on page 266 of the owner's manual to turn the radio and other accessory items off when flat towing the car. If it is to be towed for "long periods" they do state to remove the 7.5-amp radio fuse.

With a car that is 8 years old I will presume the original battery has been replaced. But even if the current battery is 4 or 5 years old it could still be shot. It is not unheard of for a battery to last only 4 or 5 years, depending on the grade and capacity.

You might have the battery tested by a shop, or try the charger to see if the battery takes a full charge.
