Can Fulton 542 Winch on Pontoon Boat Trailer be Replaced

Fulton brake winch to replace older Fulton 542 winch, can this be done.

You certainly can replace the winch you have with a different one such as # F143100. The only thing to look at is the mounting hole pattern. Winch # F143100 has 3 holes. The 2 across from each other are 2 inches apart on center. And the lower one between those 2 holes is 4 inches from the center line of the top to holes to the center of the elongated hole. I have included a picture showing this for you.

Where can I get the rachet control spring for the 542 winch?

Replacement parts are no longer available for the Fulton 542 Winch. Your only option at this point will be a whole new unit and the Fulton Brake Winch # F143100 mentioned above would be a really nice option.
