Question:

Hello, I am looking at a dirtbike carrier for the back of my FJ Cruiser. UF48-979033. I wanted to know if this product will be able to clear the stock spare tire that is on the back of the FJ with a dirtbike in place. I saw the Rage Powersports one cleared a Jeep spare tire, but wondering if this can do it too.

You need only take one simple measurement of your FJ Cruiser's 2-inch hitch to know whether or not the Ultra-Fab Dirt Bike Carrier # UF48-979033 will clear your rear-mounted spare tire.

Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the rear-most edge of the spare tire. The minimum clearance you need will generally be one inch greater than the distance you measure.

This Ultra-Fab carrier provides 5-inches of clearance from the hitch pin hole so if your hitch-pin-hole-to-tire distance is 4-inches, then this carrier would give you that 1-inch of space needed to avoid the carrier contacting the vehicle.

The fit of the dirt bike is another matter. You can measure the half-width of the bike, in other words from the center of its gas tank let's say, to the end of the handlebar. On the Ultra-Fab carrier the distance from the center of the track (where the wheels fit) to the hitch pin hole is 19-inches. Compare this to the bike width measurement to see if the handlebar will contact the vehicle.
