Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for 2013 Mercedes E-350

Updated 08/08/2017 | Published 08/07/2017

Question:

I am exploring putting a trailer hitch for bike rack onto my 2013 MB E350 4Matic. I think CURT makes the only option for this. I would likely use a KUAT platform rack that weights roughly 48 lbs. My bike is a Jamis road bike steel frame at 20 lbs. I was hoping to avoid any contact to my paint, but apparently a strap is needed? I guess it cant be worse than a trunk mounted rack....but for the hitch....is this easy to install? Ive heard of having to lower the exhaust or drilling damage to the frame, and I baby the car a bit. What would be the best option? I just want to ride a few days a month and need transport to the trail...not looking to ride more than 5-7 times a month. Just need to get my bike to the trail with the least damage/harm to the car! Thanks,

Curt does make a hitch for your 2013 Mercedes Benz E350. If you have a sedan you'd want the part # C11001 or if you have a wagon you'd want the part # C11404. There is some drilling into the bumper of the vehicle to install the hitch.

For a bike rack that will fit either hitch and will only touch the bikes at the tire you would want the Kuat NV 2.0 part # BA12B.

Curt requires the use of their stabilizer strap part # 18050 when using their hitch to carry a non-supported load like a bike rack. I attached a review video for you to check for the strap as well.
