Question:
This adapter description says 6 way round to 4 way round but then it goes on to say that it goes to a 4 way flat. I need to go from 6 way round at motorhome to 4 way round curly cord to towed vehicle.

I would recommend installing a 4-pole round socket, part # PK11404 on the rear of the motor home, rather than trying to construct an adapter. The socket would need to be tapped into the wires feeding your 6-way. We offer 4 conductor wire, part # 16-4B-1 that is sold by the foot, you would probably want at least two feet. The wire is conveniently color coded, and would attach to the 4-pole socket as follows:
Attach the brown wire to the # 2 terminal. Terminal # 1 would be grounded to the motorhome. Attach the yellow wire to terminal # 3, and the green wire would attach to terminal # 4.
To determine which wire serves what function on your 6-way, you can use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993. Access the rear of the 6-way where the wires attach to the terminals. Have a helper turn the headlights on and off and probe each terminal until the tester lights up along with the running lights. Attach your brown wire to that terminal. Have the helper turn on the left turn signal and probe the terminals until you find the one that makes the tester blink. Attach the yellow wire onto this terminal. Then, turn on the right turn signal. Once again, probe the remaining terminals until you locate the one that makes the tester blink and attach your green wire to that terminal.
If needed, we also offer a mounting bracket for the 4-pole round connector, part # RM-910030-5.
Using this method will make for a more durable and permanent connection than trying to construct and adapter.
