Is it Possible to Have Curt Fifth Wheel Rails Installed and Tow Gooseneck Hitch

Updated 07/27/2017 | Published 07/26/2017

Question:

Hello, and thanks for your help. It seems that I have made an error, and I am trying to install a fifth wheel hitch on top of an existing gooseneck hitch. I didnt realize the two things could not coexist. Now I have half installed 5th wheel rails, and cannot connect the front of the rails because of the gooseneck hitch being in the way. Is there any workaround for this? Ive spent all day installing this only to realize that the front wont connect. Its killing me to think I have to Return the hitch and lose all the shipping costs I paid to rush it. I also needed it today and thats already too late. Is there anything I can do to Use this hitch? Thanks! Dodge Ram 3500 8ft bed Curt Custom 5-w Install Kit - Dodge Ram - Carbide Finish and Curt E5 5-w Hitch - 16 000 Lbs

The only way to install the fifth wheel rails is going to be to remove the gooseneck hitch you have installed in your truck. Once you have the rails installed though you would be able to use a Curt Spyder # 16085 to adapt the rails to a gooseneck hitch so that you could tow a gooseneck hitch in the future.
