what is the depth of this item? recommended door thickness?

I went out to the warehouse and measured a T-Handle Locking Stainless Steel Flush Door Latch, # L4080. The overall depth is 2-3/4 inches.
The latch on the back side is adjustable and will fit on a door that is a 1-3/8 inches thick to 1-11/16 inches thick.
