Question:

I have 2006 dodge ram 2500 mega. I am looking for two things. One a way to carry both my bikes and my kayaks While towing my travel trailer. second I am looking for a new hitch. I want to replace the existing factory hitch.

Since I do not know the length or weights of your kayaks, nor how many bikes you need to transport, I will try to give you the most helpful general guidance so you can determine the best option for your 2006 Ram 2500 long bed. You can always get back to me with the specifics on these items to let me make more targeted recommendations.

One way you could go is to install a front-mount hitch like # 65046 and use a load support like # EM07605 along with a cab roof rack, like the Thule rack made of parts # TH711520, # TH480R, # THKIT1528, and secure the kayaks to the roof rack and load support. Then you could use a truck-bed bike rack like Topline # UG2500 or Swagman # S64702 or one of the others shown on the linked page. A front-mount hitch also lets you use a hitch bike rack on the front of the truck, if you prefer.

You could also install Curt 2-inch rear hitch # C15409, which fits along with the factory hitch on trucks with the factory standard bumper, and use a dual receiver adapter # D-192 to allow use of the load support in the upper receiver and tow with the lower.
