Recommended Trailer Lift For Level Transport Using Lifted 2017 Ram 2500

Updated 06/07/2017 | Published 06/06/2017

Question:

I have a 2017 Ram 2500 that is lifted, the springs are over axles and I have 2 inch blocks. I had to put airbags on the truck and now when I level out the truck with the 5th wheel attached to it the trailer is lower in the back by a few inches. Is there anything I can do? I have the 6in clearance on my bed. And how bad is it to pull a trailer like that? I had already bought the trailer because they said they could modify it to make it work and they did except they didnt put the airbags in cause they were on back order and now its unlevel after I drove it off the lot. Truck to tall for 5th wheel

To help your trailer become level with your truck, it sounds like you have already done an over-under kit like the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-384-00 for 2-3/8 inch axles or # K71-385-00 for 3 inch axles to "flip the axles". If not, this is what I recommend first.

If you have already done this, you can change out your hangers for longer ones to raise the level of your leaf springs or you can use the Lippert Components Center Point by Trailair Air-Ride Suspension Upgrade - Tandem Axle # LC1565391 which will raise your trailer by 2 inches. You will want to be careful in how much you lift your trailer because it becomes much more prone to body roll and porpoising as you lift it.

Of course this is done after you have adjusted your 5th wheel hitch to its lowest and your king pin on your pin box has been adjusted as much as possible.
