How Much Space is Needed Between Roof and Top of Slide-Out to Mount an Awning Rail
Updated 06/05/2017 | Published 06/02/2017 >
Question:
Slide out is 13 feet long and 37 inches deep on a 2015 sandpiper destination trailer by forest river. My concern is the attachment of the awning rail on the trailer side. How much room do I need to secure the rail to the trailer wall between the top of the trailer and the base of the slide out.

Expert Reply:
You will need at least 3 inches from the top of upper edge on the slide-out. On a slide-out awning such as # LCV000168110 the awning rail needs to be mounted up higher than where the roll tube will be that gets mounted on the slide-out so water can run down and off of the awning away from the trailer. The awning rail itself is approximately 2 inches tall. Position the awning rail along the line where the roof and wall meet or a minimum of 3" above the upper edge of the slide room the Solera Slider will cover. The awning rail must be level and parallel with the top of slide room box of the unit.
